Arsenic Free Drinking Water Supply
In an arsenic-prone area where tube wells contaminate drinking water, Kishalaya Taruntirtha took the initiative in 2018 to provide arsenic-free drinking water. With the support of Dr. Arup Sengupta, a renowned scientist and chemical engineering professor at Lehigh University, we installed arsenic and iron removal plants. Over 350 families, predominantly from Gazna and Tegharia villages, along with others from Sutia, Nagbari, Kutipara, Bishnupur, Pubali, and S-Jadavpur, now have access to pure drinking water. Water quality tests are conducted quarterly, and Sri Prasenjit Ghosh coordinates this essential project. We are grateful for the support of Drinkwell, Wistwater, and Lehigh University in making this life-saving endeavor possible.

This initiative has benefited approximately 400 families, enabling them to improve their living standards, access resources, and opportunities, and lead more fulfilling lives. Last year, our SHG program continued successfully, facilitating loan sanctions for self-employment, medical treatment, daughters’ marriages, business ventures, cultivation, and house construction, bringing tangible benefits to the group members.
